Titans place franchise tag on RB Derrick Henry

Less than 24 hours after giving quarterback Ryan Tannehill a four-year, $118 million deal, the Tennessee Titans have applied the franchise tag on star running back Derrick Henry, who led the National Football League in rushing a season ago.

The 6-foot-3, 240 pounder rushed for 1,540 yards and 16 touchdowns in 2019. The former University of Alabama running back has rushed for 1,000 yards or more in back-to-back seasons for the first time in his four-year professional career.

Henry, who just turned 26-years old, carried the Titans to an AFC Championship Game appearance last season. In three playoff games, the bruising back carried the football 83 times for 446 yards and two touchdowns, leading his Tennessee Titans on an improbable playoff run.
