Defeat or Destroy?: Week 8

Baylor (8-1, 3-1) @ Brentwood Academy (6-3, 2-2)

Baylor (8-1, 3-1) travels to Brentwood Academy Friday night to battle with the Eagles. The Red Raiders survived the sloppy field conditions last week against MBA, winning 14-6, while Brentwood Academy (6-3, 2-2) gutted out a 30-20 win against Ensworth. Tennessee commit Elijah Howard will need to continue his stellar season and a Red Raider defense led by Samford commit Noah Martin will have to play tough in order for Baylor to secure a win over Brentwood.

Bradley Central (7-2, 4-1) @ McMinn County (8-1, 4-1)

The second place spot in Region 2-6A is on the line tonight when Bradley Central (7-2, 4-1) travels to Athens for a matchup with McMinn County (8-1, 4-1). Cherokee RB Jalen Hunt will be a handful for Bradley’s defense. Hunt has rushed for 1,162 yards through nine games, and averages just over 129 yards per game. Damon Floyd’s team will need the defense to at least slow down Jalen Hunt, and Bradley’s wide receiver duo of Tray Curry and Saylor Clark will have to make big plays for the offense.

CCS (5-3, 4-1) @ Silverdale (3-6, 0-5)

Silverdale’s (3-6, 0-5) offense has struggled to put up points against district opponents so far this season. The Seahawks average less than 17 PPG in district play, and the Chattanooga Christian defense will look to feast off of a very vulnerable offense. A CCS win Friday night guarantees

them either a No. 1 or No. 2 seed heading into the postseason.

Jay’s Pick: CCS destroys Silverdale

Well’s Pick: CCS destroys Silverdale

East Hamilton (6-3, 4-1) @ Howard (7-2, 4-1)

A good offense meets a stout defense Friday night as Howard (7-2, 4-1) hosts East Hamilton (6-3, 4-1). The Hustlin’ Tigers have held their previous four opponents scoreless, but face a Hurricane offense that’s averaging over 40 PPG this season. The No. 2 seed in Region 2-4A will

be awarded to the winner of this game, and the loser will finished third.

Well’s Pick: East Hamilton destroys Howard

Ensworth (6-3, 2-2) @ McCallie (8-1, 4-0)

McCallie (8-1, 4-0) owns the top seed in their division heading into the postseason, and a win against Ensworth Friday night will move them to 9-1 on the year with an unbeaten 5-0 record in

region play.

Lookout Valley (0-9, 0-3) @ Whitwell (1-8, 0-3)

Lookout Valley is looking to avenge the 45-7 beating from Whitwell (1-8, 0-3) last season. The Tigers have had a rough season coming off of a State Championship season last year, but will look to finish strong against the Yellow Jackets.

Ooltewah (3-6, 2-3) @ Cleveland (3-6, 1-4)

A pair of 3-6 teams meet at Cleveland High School Friday night when the Blue Raiders entertain the Ooltewah Owls. Owl RB Joquan Greenhill and Cleveland WR Deuce Flowers will arguably be the two best players on the field Friday night, and both coaches will need to get the ball into their hands if they want to come away with a win.
