Two Vols Named to Preseason Watch Lists

Jarrett Guarantano, Darrell Taylor garner some preseason recognition.

It’s ‘watch list’ season – the time of year where all the postseason awards release their lists of potential winning candidates. Among those candidates included Tennessee’s 2-year starting quarterback Jarrett Guarantano being named to the Maxwell Award watch list. The Maxwell Award is given out annually to the nation’s top quarterback. Guarantano finished last season with 1,907 passing yards, and 12/3 touchdown/interception ratio.

The other Vols’ player named was 5th year senior OLB Darrell Taylor. He was named to the Bednarik Award watch list. Taylor was Tennessee’ best pass-rusher last season, finishing the season with 11 tackles for loss, and 8 sacks. Taylor was also named a Preseason All-American by the Phil Steele Magazine.
